The Visual of Digital Art animated by The Lot Downtown
SHREVEPORT, LA (Ark-La-Tex Weekend) – The Lot Downtown hosts its latest event, the Alex Richardson Point and Click Art Reception: The Visual of Digital Art
On Friday, September 2 at 5:30 p.m., The Lot Downtown will host Alex Richardson’s Point and Click Art Reception: The Visual of Digital Art at 400 Crockett Street, Shreveport. Richardson’s goal is to dispel the stigma that digital art is inferior to traditional art. He says it’s no different from what or how he drew in his school notebooks.
“I’ve titled the show ‘Point and Click: The Visual of Digital’ and it will be a canvas print exhibition of my art available to view for 3 months. I call it that because there is still a stigma in the modern art world around digital art and illustration, viewing work done digitally as inferior to that done traditionally,” says Richardson. “I like pushing that notion away. Watching an older woman be flabbergasted at an art exhibit that my piece was done digitally and not physical brush strokes was pretty awesome.
The dramatic angles and beautifully crafted clean lines of Richardson’s work are both vibrant with color and highly detailed. Each work is a conversation piece, Richardson’s characters fire the imagination, leaving the viewer in awe of the character’s story.
As an artist, Richardson is a prominent figure in the Shreveport/Bossier City arts community, he is the marketing coordinator for the Bossier Arts Council and a member of the Lab Rats Arts group. He often appears in the media and is also known for his main coordination of the annual SBC Zombie Walk event.
