Selling 8×10 artwork raises funds for the studio

McRae Art Studios, home to 22 working painters, sculptors, photographers and multimedia artists in the city of Orlando, is offering a sale of small, affordable art to raise funds.

The artist collective is hosting an 8×10 sale on August 10 at the studio near the Creative Village in Orlando.

“It’s not huge coins, but it’s all $100. We donate our sales proceeds directly to the studio,” said Stephen Bach, a landscape painter. “We use this fundraiser to run the studio and meet our expenses for the year. We do all the mundane things like changing air conditioner filters. We try to do the maximum without disturbing the owner.

Each of the artists donates small pieces, giving visitors the opportunity to own high-quality original works of art at a reduced price.

“We make it affordable for the public. For $100, a young person who only has Target or Pier 1 posters can buy their first original painting,” said Robert Ross, a painter.

The workshop will offer more than 120 works for sale on Wednesday evening. If two or more visitors are interested in buying the same coin, they can enter their name for a raffle.

“Everyone gets involved. They don’t just take disposable paints from the bottom of the pile, they actually create new paints,” Ross said, and Bach added, “It takes a village, as they say.

The McRae Art Studios 8×10 sale begins at 6:30 p.m. on August 10 at 1000 Arlington St. in Orlando. The selection of works begins at 7 p.m. and the sale ends at 7:45 p.m. For more information, visit mcraeartstudios.com.
